Compared to its predecessor, the third-generation iPad, the fourth-generation iPad retains the Retina display, but features new components such as the Apple A6X chip and the Lightning connector, which was introduced on September 12, 2012, with the launch of the iPhone 5. It is launched with iOS 6 and, like its predecessor, will benefit from 5 versions of iOS, up to iOS 10.
